Cineflix International today signaled a major push into formats and international partnerships with the news that former BBC Director of International Formats Colin Jarvis is to work with the company as a consultant.
Reporting into CEO Glen Salzman and working with Cineflix’s sales and production executives, Jarvis will focus on both the licensing and production side of the company’s formats business. As well as augmenting its existing catalogue, which includes brands such Instant Cash and Conviction Kitchen, he is also tasked with adapting other current Cineflix brands into international formats.
Colin is credited with building the BBC’s formats division from scratch into one of the world’s leading format houses. During his tenure he was responsible for international brands including The Weakest Link, Dancing with the Stars and The Office. He most recently led the roll out of the BBC’s international production network, establishing bases and partnerships in North and South America, Europe, Australia and India.
Cineflix CEO Glen Salzman said, “Establishing a thriving format production and distribution division is a major step in Cineflix’s overall growth strategy. With a fantastic track record driving the global production and sales of some of the world’s biggest formats, Colin is perfectly placed to help us achieve this aim. I’m delighted Colin will be joining us at an ideal time as he and our Cineflix team head down to MIPCOM.
Colin Jarvis said: “I am really delighted to include Cineflix, with its international reach and reputation, as a major client of Colin Jarvis Media. Cineflix already has some successful formats like Instant Cash and I look forward to working with the team to formulate their international format strategy within their successful TV Production and distribution divisions."
Cineflix is one of the world’s leading international production and distribution companies, with a mix of global broadcast and production partners, major talent and key executives producing and distributing original content for television and other emerging platforms. Headquartered in Montréal, the company has offices in Toronto, London, Dublin and New York.
