Sales Boom Continues in Nordic Territories
Cineflix International has sold close to 230 hours of programming from across its non-fiction and factual entertainment catalogues to broadcasters across the Nordic territories. The deals, which were brokered by Sandra Piha, Cineflix International’s head of sales for Scandinavia, build on Cineflix international’s impressive sales performance in the Nordic territories and point to the quality of both Cineflix international’s new series and the enduring appeal of its classic product.
Among the Cineflix International titles headed for Denmark are the crime investigation series Cold Blood, which has been acquired by Viasat Broadcasting. Viasat has also taken Frantic Films’ new lifestyle/make-over title Princess, which sees teen divas transformed into responsible young adults; and Property Virgins, which chronicles the ups, downs, dreams and harsh realities of first-time home-buying. Also headed for Denmark via a string of deals with DR-Danish Broadcasting Corporation are Mayday: Science of Disaster and Industrious, a new one-hour HD doc that unpacks the workings of a major deepwater port.
TV4 Sweden has acquired three Cineflix titles for Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden: Animal Squad, which follows RSPCA officers as they protect animals from neglect and cruelty; ICU: A Matter Of Life Or Death, set in a busy intensive-care unit; and Seven Network’s popular docu-soap Surf Patrol.
Also en route for Sweden is season six of Border Security, which has been acquired by Kanal 5, as well as Norway’s TV Norge. Seven Network’s popular franchise, which has performed strongly across Scandinavia, explores Australia’s fight against infiltration by drug traffickers, wildlife smugglers and identity fraudsters.
Seven CI series are set to air in Finland as a result of deals with MTV Oy and Channel 4. The adventure series Air Dogs has been acquired by MTV Oy, along with the cons-meet-cuisine entertainment format Conviction Kitchen and new docu-soap The Cupcake Girls, which follows two best friends as they bake their way to the top.
Cooking is also on the menu for Finland’s Channel 4, which has taken season one of Dinner Party Wars, which sees three larger-than-life couples pull out stops to wine, dine — and undermine — their rivals; and Frantic Films’ new restaurant-rescue show The Opener, featuring top TV chef David Adjey. Season one of The Opener is also set to air across the region on the back of a multi-territory deal with TLC Scandinavia.
TV2 Norway, meanwhile, has closed deals for Conviction Kitchen, while NRK Norway had picked up the chilling 90-minute drama-doc Manson, which chronicles the events leading up to America’s macabre Tate/La Bianca murders in 1969.
