Strong LAT AM Sales for Cineflix International
Cineflix International returned from NATPE 2011 with an impressive line-up of deals and a roster of new clients from across the Spanish-speaking world. All the Latam deals were brokered by Cineflix International’s recently appointed Vice-President of Latin America and Iberia Sales, Sabrina Ayala.
Among the Latin American broadcasters to have acquired Cineflix International programming are such power players as Discovery, which has taken How Machines Work, Surviving the Future, Weird or What? With William Shatner, Princess, Rags to Red Carpet and Inside the Box with Ty Pennington; FOX Life (Property Virgins) and Turner Broadcasting (Conviction Kitchen).
Cineflix International sales to Hispanic North America were also buoyant, with V-ME acquiring The Unsellables, Univision-owned Galavision acquiring Cooler Facts, and Discovery en Español snapping up four seasons of the evergreen Mayday series.
Spain’s laSexta, meanwhile, bought the top-performing Cineflix International titles World’s Greenest Homes, Birth Days, Animal Rescue and A Dog’s Life.
Cineflix International, which exhibited for the first time at this year’s NATPE in Miami, has been enjoying robust demand for its factual entertainment and documentary programming across the Spanish-speaking territories.
Its strong sales performance at NATPE confirms the emergence of “a vibrant and dynamic market with an appetite for quality factual content”, said Cineflix International President Paul Heaney.
Heaney added: “We have noticed a sharp rise in activity across the Hispanic and Latin American markets, driven largely by the proliferation of new Spanish-language channels. We believe our factual programming, with its exceptional production values, compelling subject matter and proven track record, is perfectly suited to these territories.”
Sabrina Ayala added: “NATPE gave us a valuable opportunity to place Cineflix’s programming front and centre with the Spanish-language markets and grow our roster of broadcast clients, some of them new to Cineflix, such as the Spanish free-to-air broadcaster laSexta and FOX Life Latin America. I look forward to growing relationships with our clients in these regions as we continue to add new titles to our collection.”
