Demand for Docu-Soap Up with Air Ways and Campus PD
Cineflix International reports strong sales of two of its most popular docu-soap series — Air Ways and Campus PD — across Europe, North America, Australia and the Middle East.
Air Ways (8 x 30 min), which gets up close and personal to the staff and passengers of an Australian budget airline, has been picked up by broadcasters across the Nordic territories. Both seasons of the Seven Network Australia production have been acquired by Channel Four Finland, TV Norge Norway and Kanal 5 Sweden.
With its mix of drama, comedy, mid-air marriages and lost luggage, Air Ways is also set to take off in the UK, where it has been bought by Virgin Media’s Living, as well as the Netherlands (SBS), Poland (Tele 5) and Kuwait (Vision Media Entertainment).
Campus PD has been generating strong interest in Australia, with sales of the first two seasons of the student law-enforcement series booked to Fox’s Biography Channel and Seven Network. With a total of 36 x 30 min available, the series looks at university life from the perspective of the campus police whose job it is to keep students safe — from themselves as well as others.
In North America, Rogers Broadcasting has taken the first two seasons of Campus PD for Canada, while all three seasons have been acquired by the US cable and satellite channel G4, which has also taken the second series for international broadcast. The campus heroes are also debuting in Norway via a deal with Viasat Broadcasting for TV2.
