Sky Atlantic Seeks Treasure with Cineflix Productions

Cineflix Productions (UK) Limited has won one of Sky Atlantic’s first non-scripted prime time commissions, for a new series following two designers who scour the UK for amazing objects to place into some of the country’s most exclusive contemporary spaces.

Treasure Seekers (8x60 min, working title) follows collector Paul Liengaard and interior designer Sarah Brunner as they discover hidden treasures waiting to be reclaimed, restored and bought back to life.

They’ll unearth objects in unlikely places; industrial lights from a derelict factory; lost ‘60s art from a rural barn and a 747 cockpit from an airline parts hoarder. They then work with the owners of some of Britain’s trendiest places, including hotels, restaurants and private residences, to find new homes for their discoveries.

Rob Carey, Creative Director of Cineflix Productions, said: “Treasure Seekers is a mix of travelogue, interiors show and transactional TV following two great characters on an adventure – finding cool and stylish retro objects from unlikely places around the UK. The audience shares in the excitement of discovering these hidden treasures and will be able to pick up tips on how to find such objects themselves.”

Siobhan Mulholland, Commissioning Editor, Factual and Features, Sky Atlantic HD commented: “This series is full of the unexpected and the unusual. Set against some genuinely beautiful backdrops, Treasure Seekers’ expert team will show that what seems like junk to one person is a collector's item to another, and our seekers will have an eye not just for the objects themselves, but for the best locations to find them in.”

Treasure Seekers, which is shot in HD, is Executive Produced by Nick Cory-Wright and Rob Carey and series produced by Ceri Rowlands. It was commissioned by Celia Taylor and is due to transmit in late 2011. The series is being distributed internationally by Cineflix International.

Cineflix Productions is also producing digital content to sit alongside the TV show. The Seeker’s Handbook allows visitors to find out how successful ‘seekers’ find bargains, refurbish objects and sell them for a profit. User generated content will include tips on what’s collectible, what’s cool and what’s selling for the most money. Alongside The Seeker’s Handbook, the content will include blogs from the hosts, webisodes and out-takes.
