Cineflix Rights Closes Record Nordic Sales in Advance of MIPCOM

Cineflix Rights has closed an unprecedented number of sales to broadcasters across the Nordic region in the run up to MIPCOM. The distributor has signed volume deals for 39 shows with TV4 and Kanal 5 Sweden, TV Norge and TLC Norway, Nelonen Finland, Viasat Denmark, and the BBC and TLC for pan-Scandinavian broadcast. In total, nearly 450 hours of product have now been sold to the region’s top broadcasters over the past year.

Cineflix Rights has sold the seventh series of Seven Network Australia’s hit franchise Border Security - which puts viewers on the front line of Australia’s fight against infiltration by drug traffickers, wildlife smugglers and identity fraudsters - to Kanal 5 Sweden, TV Norge and Nelonen Finland.

Cineflix Rights has sold 12 titles in all to Nelonen, including designer duel Inside the Box With Ty Pennington, culinary challenge Dinner Party Wars and series six, seven and eight of Property Virgins, which chronicles the ups, downs, dreams and harsh realities of first-time home-buying. TV Norge has also acquired the entire 45 x 30’ series of Frantic Films’ lifestyle and make-over title Princess, which sees teen divas transformed into responsible young adults via a month-long series of challenges.

TV4 Sweden has bought five titles, including the Canadian and Australian series of Conviction Kitchen, in which top chefs are thrown into a kitchen with 24 ex-cons and challenged to open a high-end restaurant in just three weeks. Cineflix Rights has also sold the eighth series of Property Virgins to TV3 Puls Denmark under a deal with Viasat, who have additionally acquired Murder She Solved: True Crime, which pays homage to the female law-enforcement officers who hunt down killers.

Sandra Piha, Cineflix Rights’ Head of Sales for Scandinavia said: “The Nordic markets are particularly competitive so selling titles into this region is a good indication of their global appeal and Cineflix Rights' premier position in the Scandinavian market place.  I expect there to be strong demand at MIP and other forthcoming markets.”

Cineflix Rights (formerly Cineflix International) was launched in September 2011.  As well as factual and factual entertainment, the company has recently moved into formats and scripted programming - including Cineflix Studios’ recently greenlit series Copper - and is continuing to build its representation of third party producers and use of innovative funding techniques for productions.
