Cineflix Appoints Miura Kite EVP, Cineflix Studios

Cineflix Studios, the scripted division of leading international producer and distributor Cineflix Media, has named Miura Kite Executive Vice President, Cineflix Studios. Kite is responsible for overseeing development in the U.S. and the scripted side of Cineflix’s Los Angeles office.  Kite will report to Christina Wayne, President, Cineflix Studios, and joins on November 7, 2011 from The Playtone Company where she was Head of Development.

“I’m thrilled to have Miura join Cineflix Studios’ push into the scripted series business,” said Wayne. “I’ve always admired her taste and ability to craft material. Miura’s experience on such phenomenal shows such as The Pacific  and Big Love made it clear that she fits perfectly with our mandate of quality programming.”

“Now is an exciting period of creative and commercial growth in television,” said Kite.  “The team at Cineflix has made tremendous headway in a short period of time due to their commitment to elevated scripted entertainment and I’m looking forward to building on the momentum they have generated.”

As Head of Development at The Playtone Company, Kite oversaw television, film, and emerging media projects.  She was Co-Producer on the upcoming HBO film Game Change and HBO’s miniseries The Pacific.  She also served as Development Executive on Where the Wild Things Are, five seasons of the HBO series Big Love, City of Ember, Mamma Mia!, the miniseries  John  Adams, Charlie Wilson’s War, Starter for 10, The Ant Bully, and The Polar Express.  In addition to Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, Kite has worked for Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella at Mirage Enterprises and Jonathan Demme at Clinica Estetico.

Cineflix launched its scripted division in July 2010 and has green lit Copper, a gripping new crime drama for BBC America and Shaw Media in Canada.  Cineflix Studios is also currently developing The Command for TNT.  

Most recently, Cineflix Media announced the appointment of Chris Bonney to the position of CEO of Rights, Cineflix Media, and Lisa Levenson to the position of Executive Vice President, Programming, in Los Angeles.  Earlier this year, Cineflix announced the appointments of Sally Catto to Executive Vice President, Cineflix Studios, and Vlad Wolynetz to President of Production, Cineflix Studios.
