Cineflix Rights Signs Third Party Slate in Advance of MIPTV

Cineflix Rights, one of the UK’s leading distributors, has signed a series of new acquisition deals with production companies including Touch Productions, Icon Films, Bargepole Productions, Imagination Television, Windfall Films and The Downlow Concept ahead of MIPTV 2012.

New producer deals include Touch Productions’ The Human Body in 3D (2x60’), which uses a rich blend of specially shot real-life sequences and cutting edge CGI, telling the inside story of the human body for the first time in hi-definition 3D. Icon Films’ Animal Airport (13x30’) follows the tales of the many creatures - from elephants to giant octopuses - that pass through the doors of the Animal Reception Centre at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Bargepole Productions’ Timothy Spall – Somewhere at Sea (11x30’) features one of Britain’s best-loved actors his wife as they navigate around the coast of Britain in a specially built sea-going barge. Yap Films’ Shred it (13x30’) has exclusive access to one of the world’s leading shredding companies and the extreme challenges it faces as it uses unique machinery to demolish everything from entire pick-up trucks to stealth bombers.

The Downlow Concept’s Bigger Better Faster Stronger (10x30’) is a popular science format that sees two teams compete to ramp-up everyday objects from vacuum cleaners to lawnmowers to their full potential.

New content from existing production partners includes Windfall Films’ Massive Moves (13x30’) which documents the challenges of moving an entire house through a major city, over a mountain range or across a frozen lake.  Imagination Television’s Wild Life at the Zoo (10x30’) has unprecedented access to the 3400 animals living on 28 hectares at Taronga Zoo in Sydney Australia. The series uses innovative cameras to allow viewers to experience the daily life in a zoo from a new perspective and hear from world renowned experts such as Jane Goodall.

Paul Heaney, President and MD of Cineflix Rights said: “These latest deals demonstrate the success of our strategy of building a high quality catalogue combining content from third party producers alongside Cineflix Productions. We will continue to offer incentives such as development funding as we look to sign up more producers at MIPTV.”
