Cineflix Rights signs multiple deals for The Day Kennedy Died
Cineflix Rights, one of the UK’s leading independent television content distributors, is achieving global success for the documentary The Day Kennedy Died, produced by Finestripe Productions inking deals with more than 20 broadcasters ahead of the 50th anniversary of JFK’s death later this month.
The Day Kennedy Died is a one-hour anniversary special, from the makers of The Day John Lennon Died, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. The film offers an hour-by-hour look at the events leading up to his death and includes exclusive never-before-seen interviews and powerful, rare archive footage. From the journalist who was with the Kennedy family that day, to the nurse who checked his vital signs at the hospital, the documentary tells the story of what happened that fateful day through the eyes of the people who were there and whose lives were touched forever by the President’s death.
Broadcasters taking the show include Foxtel Australia, Sky Italia, Discovery Iberia and Discovery Netherlands, VRT Belgium, ORF Austria, TV4 Sweden, RTL Belgium, DRTV Denmark, NRK Norway, N24 Germany and CCTV China.
Chris Bonney, CEO of Rights, Cineflix Media said: “There is a lot of international attention around this important anniversary, and these latest sales for The Day Kennedy Died demonstrate that this is one of the most insightful documentaries on the market about the events of 50 years ago. Finestripe have a track record of producing quality documentaries and we’re really pleased to be working with them to ensure The Day Kennedy Died gets the highest international audiences.”
Sue Summers, Joint Managing Director, Finestripe Productions added: “For witnesses to Kennedy’s death, the events of that day in Dallas half a century ago remain as raw and traumatic as ever. Many are reluctant to talk about them – some never have until now. This film is a moving account of the 24 hours surrounding the death of JFK and, thanks to our supportive partners at Cineflix Rights, we are incredibly proud to share it with audiences around the world.”
The Day Kennedy Died was originally commissioned for ITV in the UK and Smithsonian Channel in the US. It is written and directed by Leslie Woodhead, produced by Lorraine McKechnie and executive produced by Sue Summers for Finestripe Productions.
