Cineflix Rights signs multiple deals for third-party content
Cineflix Rights, one of the UK’s leading independent television content distributors, has signed a raft of deals with broadcasters worldwide for third-party content.
European deals including RAI Italia taking World War II: The Last Heroes (6 x 60’, Impossible Pictures), French broadcaster Planète taking Massive Moves (seasons 1 and 2, 39 x 30’, Windfall Films) and National Geographic Italy buying The Opener (seasons 1 and 2, 19 x 60’, Frantic Films).
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Opener have also been acquired by newly created US network FYI. Also in the US, Smithsonian has bought Dangerous Flights (season 1, 8 x 60’, Pixcom Productions) and DIY has acquired Massive Moves (season 1, 13 x 30’, Windfall Films). In Canada, Shaw has picked up Border Security (season 8, 20 x 30’, Seven Network).
T4 Sweden has bought Murder She Solved (seasons 1-3, 24 x 60’, Force Four Entertainment / Mystique Films) and 1000 Days for the Planet (10 x 60’, Glacialis Productions). NTV Germany has bought The Man Who Doesn’t Breathe (2 x 60’, Back2Back Productions) and TV3 Ireland has picked up A Gypsy Life for Me (16 x 60’, Daisybeck Productions).
Cineflix Rights has also signed a 100-hour deal with Joj Slovakia for titles including The Cupcake Girls (seasons 1-3, 43 x 30’, Force Four Entertainment) and Wives with Knives (season 1, 7 x 60’, Indigo Films). Also in Eastern Europe, I Prima in the Czech Republic has bought 24 hours of programming including 101 Things Removed From the Human Body (3 x 60’, LMNO Productions) and The Day Kennedy Died (1 x 60’, Finestripe Productions).
Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: "Third-party content now makes up around half of Cineflix Rights’ catalogue and we’re pleased to be enjoying continued success with our existing partners and the ten new producers we’ve taken on in the last few months. Following our attendance at Realscreen, we anticipate announcing further deals with producers in the next few weeks.”
Cineflix Rights has built successful relationships with more than 65 producer partners, who provide the third-party content making up around half of the distributor’s 3500 hour catalogue. These partners include: LMNO Productions (USA), Windfall Films (UK), October Films (UK), Impossible Pictures (UK), Hoodlum (Australia), Indigo Films (USA) and Waddell Media (Ireland). The company recently announced that Anthony Kimble, former VP of Sales, Acquisitions and Co-Productions at National Geographic Channels International, has joined as Director of Acquisitions, covering Kate Laffey’s maternity leave.
