Cineflix Rights seals multiple deals for Australian and New Zealand content

Cineflix Rights, one of the UK’s leading independent television content distributors, has signed a raft of deals with broadcasters worldwide for content from its producer partners in Australia and New Zealand, in the run up to MIPTV 2014.

Leading the deals is SKY UK taking all six seasons of Animal House (67 x 30’, Imagination Television Limited, New Zealand), which follows the staff of Auckland’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as they help save animals in distress.

Another animal-based series selling well is Outback Rangers, also known as Kakadu.  CCTV China, Discovery Europe, and Explora Canada have bought season 1 (10 x 30’, Northern Pictures and Beach House Pictures, Australia) which follows the armed rangers who protect Kakadu National Park in Northern Australia and has previously been sold to networks including UKTV.

Redesign My Brain (3 x 60’, Mindful Media), which follows TV celebrity Todd Sampson as he undertakes a scientifically endorsed training program to turn his ordinary brain into a ‘super-brain’, has been sold to Discovery Networks International, which airs in more than 220 countries and territories.

CBS Chellozone, which broadcasts to Cyprus, Hungary, Romania, Poland, the Middle East, and Africa has bought 88 hours of content including Medical Emergency (seasons 1, 4, and 5, 60 x 30’, Seven Network, Australia) and Border Security (seasons 3, 4, and 5, 60 x 30’, Seven Network, Australia).

Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: "Our Australian and New Zealand content - particularly animal focused shows like Animal House and Outback Rangers, but also longstanding favorites such as Seven Network’s Border Security and Medical Emergency - are selling well at the moment as broadcasters worldwide are looking for high quality, long-running series for their schedules. We’re glad to be strengthening our relationships with existing producers from Australia and New Zealand and will be looking to acquire more content from the region down at MIPTV. “

Cineflix Rights has built successful relationships with more than 65 producer partners, who provide the third-party content making up around half of the distributor’s 3600 hour catalogue. These partners include: LMNO Productions (USA), Windfall Films (UK), October Films (UK), Impossible Pictures (UK), Hoodlum (Australia), Indigo Films (USA), and Waddell Media (Ireland).
