Cineflix Rights closes multiple deals for The Secret World of LEGO and acquires The Christmas World of LEGO
December 1, 2015
Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has closed multiple deals for its primetime documentary hit The Secret World of LEGO and has acquired a follow-up special The Christmas World of LEGO from producer Waddell Media.
The popular one-hour special was pre-sold to TV2 Denmark, TV5 Finland, and NRK Norway; and subsequent sales to more than 16 countries include National Geographic Channel US, Foxtel Australia, RTL Netherlands, Kanal 5 Sweden, Discovery Poland, and TV New Zealand.
The Secret World of LEGO (1x60’, Waddell Media) takes viewers inside one of the world’s most profitable superbrands and notoriously secretive toy makers. The program travels to LEGO headquarters to meet the designers that develop exciting new products and follows two adult fans hoping to transform their love for LEGO into cash. The special first aired on Channel 4 in the UK on June 14, winning an audience just under 90 per cent above share average and its timeslot in the 16-34 demographic. The Christmas World of LEGO (1x60’, Waddell Media) is due to air later this year on Channel 4.
Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “The Secret World of LEGO is proving to be hugely successful with broadcasters worldwide because it’s about a global superbrand everybody knows and reveals a hidden world viewers rarely get to see. It’s entertaining, informative, and works for a range of different international audiences from young to old as well as male and female – exactly what our buyers are looking for.”
