Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride is an award-winning documentary that looks at the political dynamics of Gay Pride celebrations internationally. Vancouver Pride Parade Director, Ken Coolen, is on a mission to impart relevance in Vancouver’s parade. Transcending all the bleating whistles, parties, costumes, and dance music, he travels to Moscow, Sao Paulo, and New York to witness and document the vast differences in the Pride movement around the world.

The film demonstrates the vast spectrum of Pride...from millions celebrating in Sao Paulo’s government-sponsored Pride, to Moscow Pride, where few brave souls dare to march among violent radicals and witness their aggressive hatred.
