Marcella is a dark and complex crime thriller from Hans Rosenfeldt and Nicola Larder. The series stars Anna Friel who won an International Emmy® Award for Best Performance by an Actress for her riveting portrayal of Detective Marcella Backland.

Marcella centres on the psychological struggles of a Metropolitan police officer at a crisis point in her personal life. The series is told in Rosenfeldt’s unflinchingly clear style and is his first series created for an English-speaking audience.
